Mark Bos
Executive Director & Boys Camp Director
Mark’s involvement with Camp Hemlock began as a Stockade camper in 1974. After years as a camper, he volunteered for several summers on Jr. Staff and then as Program Director. He has served as a Cabin Ranger, Battalion camp trip leader and founded the annual TreeStock retreat weekend. In addition, Mark has served on the camp Board of Directors in various capacities for over 20 years.
Mark has passed on a love for camp ministry to his family as well. He started bringing his twin sons, Nick and Sam to Father-Son as Tree Climbers. The boys continued to come as campers every summer, then as Jr. Staff. Most recently they both served as SALT leaders and Ropes Program Coordinators. His daughter, Olivia, is a Dad & Daughter camp veteran and has been serving on Kitchen Staff for the last four years.
Mark holds a B.A. from Washington Bible College in biblical education and recreation administration. He is a licensed home improvement contractor and has had a 30+ year career in the residential and commercial building industry in production, purchasing and project management. Mark and Bonnie have been married for over 30 years, and are active at Grace Community Church in Fulton, Maryland.
Star Holbrook
WIldflowers Camp Director
Star has been involved at Camp Hemlock since 1994. She attended off season retreats and the first Wildflowers Camp in 1998. She has since served as Kitchen Staff, Junior Staff, Ropes Facilitator, Program Director, WAC leader, Cabin Mom, Range Safety Officer, and as a member of the Board of Directors.
Star and her husband Brad are members of Forcey Bible Church in Silver Spring, MD along with their daughters Ginny and Emma. All four of them enjoy time at camp, particularly the Dad & Daughter program. Star has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Grove City College, a cosmetology license, and substitute teaches middle and elementary school.
Board of Directors
Camp Hemlock is a 501(c)3 non-profit. It is also under the leadership of an elected board of directors. The board meets the first Monday of the month in Columbia, MD. There are several committees including physical plant, communications & marketing, Wildflowers girls’ programs, CSB activities, personnel, outdoor activities & equipment, finance, program, and executive.
