Caving

Exploration of caves takes us into a world much different from that above ground, a world of darkness surrounded by rock and mud. Exotic formations, streams and waterfalls, tight crawlways, deep canyons and pits, huge rooms with large blocks of breakdown, crickets, bats and cave rats await the cave explorer. While at Camp Hemlock you might visit local Dyers Cave or try a more adventurous week long caving experience away from camp exploring a wide variety of West Virginia caves. Learn the basics of safe caving and cave conservation, how caves are formed, and how to find them.
