Battalion Camps Description

Boys who have completed grades 7-12 can explore their interests in more outdoor challenges or specific skills while developing their Christian character. Young men need and deserve a challenge! Under the guidance of Christian men, physical skills are developed and tested with spiritual application to everyday life. Campers enjoy the basic fun of a camp setting, swimming, games, campfires, etc. However, most of their time is spent on the program they sign up for from the following options:

Aviation* - Under the guidance of licensed pilots/instructors, you will get plenty of flying time in the cockpit, as you take flight from a nearby airport! Imagine going back to school in the fall, when all your friends spent their summer playing video games, and you tell them you actually flew an airplane instead!

Marksmanship - The week will begin with the foundation of training proper attitude and appreciation of skilled marksmanship under the close supervision and instruction of certified leaders. As their firing skill improves during the week, so will their confidence in other areas of life that they must  aim” for.

Caving - This week's adventure will be led by Bob Robins, who is an experienced caver and has participated in the exploration and mapping out of caves for the regional caving association. He and his family have been enjoying God's hidden wonders for more than 2 decades. For awesome pictures of previous trips, check out www.cavingintro.net!

Outdoor Challenge - Mid-Potomac, South Branch Potomac, Shenandoah - These programs all include an overnight canoe trip on the river mentioned, a day hike, a day in camp on select rotations, and one unique activity: Mid-Potomac offers caving, S.B. Potomac offers rock climbing, and Shenandoah offers a bike trip.

Go-Karts* - Learn small engine repair, Go-Kart construction and maintenance while you modify, test-drive, and race Camp Hemlock Go-Karts on the Hemlock Field track.
