Battalion Camps Description

Boys who have completed grades 7-12 can explore their interests in more outdoor challenges or specific skills while developing their Christian character. Young men need and deserve a challenge! Under the guidance of Christian men, physical skills are developed and tested with spiritual application to everyday life. Campers enjoy the basic fun of a camp setting, swimming, games, campfires, etc. However, most of their time is spent on the program they sign up for from the following options:

Aviation* - Under the guidance of licensed pilots/instructors, you will get plenty of flying time in the cockpit, as you take flight from a nearby airport! Imagine going back to school in the fall, when all your friends spent their summer playing video games, and you tell them you actually flew an airplane instead!

Marksmanship - The week will begin with the foundation of training proper attitude and appreciation of skilled marksmanship under the close supervision and instruction of certified leaders. As their firing skill improves during the week, so will their confidence in other areas of life that they must “aim” for.

Outdoor Adventure: Climbing & Caving/High & Deep* - This Climbing & Caving Wilderness Week is guided by Wildguyde.com Adventure Leader, Lester Zook. The week will start with learning rock-climbing basics on our own rock walls at camp. Then you’ll head out to Seneca Rocks and/or the Nelson Climbing Preserve. After all the climbing & repelling challenges there, Caver Bob Robins will take you climbing and spelunking underground into some of W. Virginia’s coolest caves! Add to that the enjoyment of wilderness living & this is an adventure you do not want to miss!.

Go-Karts* - Learn small engine repair, Go-Kart construction and maintenance while you modify, test-drive, and race Camp Hemlock Go-Karts on the Hemlock Field track.

Paintball Adventure* - for boys grades 9-12. How about a dedicated 5-acre paintball range! Beginner to experienced players will take their skills further with team building, tactical strategies, camouflage, signaling, and the all around excitement of the ultimate game! Safety gear and guns provided. Bring a team or a couple of friends to develop your skills.

* There is a $50 surcharge for the Aviation, Go-Karts, Outdoor Adventure, and Paintball programs.
